Facts and Figures

Consulting the Grand Tour of Switzerland Magazine, you will find the claim that it’s “THE NO. 1 ROAD TRIP OF THE ALPS”. The core route has a length of 1600 km and you can either take it as a round trip or individually plan for the eight stages. You can download a copy of the Magazine right here.

My Personal Trip Plan

We own an electric vehicle and currently live in Switzerland. Therefore I want to do the alternative “E-Grand Tour” step-by-step. During the recommended travel period in summer between April and October, I will select suitable sections for day-trips to return home or stay a night in a hotel together with my wife. A dense network of charging stations ensures sufficient power for the trips as well as a comfortable, noiseless and clean driving experience. For planning purposes, I will also use the tool A Better Route Planner. More information and an overview of all charging stations at MySwitzerland.com/e-grandtour.

  1. This is the joy of Europe and European nations: the scale makes this a possible and fun idea. I live in British Columbia – road trips are a great deal of fun, but the distances are greater. I hope you enjoy this very much

    1. That’s true. Great distances can be challenging. I made that experience when I lived in Africa and Yemen – plus the poor condition of the roads often makes driving a real challenge.
